What if you were the missing piece in one of the world’s most epic legends?

Read: October 3, 2018

Format: Ebook

Rating: 3.5/5

Despite being an art history student, Summer isn’t thrilled to be stuck with her archeologist family all summer in Greece. While the rest of her college friends are posting a million selfies by the pool together, Summer is stuck alone, trying to entertain herself alone in a place where she doesn’t even speak the language. Upon her arrival to Greece, strange dreams and even stranger shadows seem to haunt Summer, leaving her to ponder the meaning of pomegranate seeds and twisted, darkened faces. Suddenly, her stay abroad leads to tragic twists, leaving Summer in the arms of a dark stranger, who claims to be the god, Hades, whom she feels like she knows from another life. In a whirlwind through the busy streets of Athens, Summer is seduced to the lowest point of Greece where Hades’ lair awaits…the Underworld. Determined to find out who she is and where she belongs in an age-old myth, Summer joins Hades to discover that the secrets about her past life are beyond anything she could have ever imagined.

So I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for honest reviews. So here it goes:

First thing I thought upon receiving this book was "oooooh I love Greek Mythology! And it's a plus that it's about my favorite love story Hades and Persephone." So I dived right into it immediately. At first, I found it just alright. Just a normal family having a nic time in Greece (such a lucky lucky girl!) and then I started thinking, how will Hades come in the picture? Will she die? Is he going to kidnap Summer?

One of the issues I had with this book: (SPOILER ALERT??) her lack of reaction with her parents' death. Like, woah you just got in a car accident, you wake up in a hospital suddenly an orphan, and yet you immediately went with some random dude claiming to be "collect you".

No wild reactions, no hesitations, no crying or anything. I know there are people who would be in shock but it just seems unbelievable to me how easy it was for her to go with him. Also, she was so torn apart with her dad's death, but there was no mention of her mom. What's up with that?

Also, there were only a handful of characters, which i'm still not sure if I liked. Arae, i'm quite fond of her, beautiful with a lot of snarks; Erebos, Thanatos, both have so few scenes I don't know my reaction to them; and there's Minthe, we all need a good bitch in the story right(LOL!) and Morpheus, I feel like he's so handsome and tall and protective and hot! I hope on the next book(i'm pretty sure there is a second one because I need to know what happens next!!!) we get to see more of this bunch of gods and spirits, and what's their story to tell.

So now let's go to the things I liked:

* the authors's/ Summer's references. There was Tom Hiddleston, Disney movies, Hades blue hair (his reaction to this made me really laugh!)

* Well of course I liked the love Darce had for Summer (or for all five of them). How he had to wait for centuries to meet her and have a chance to feel her again, only to be taken away from him in an instant. Love like theirs will never be easy, so his patience and will to stay true to their love is amazing!

* I also loved the different scenarios in varying time lines. Like having a novella within a novel.

* I liked the fact that though Summer came with him right away, she didn't just fall in love with him in an instant. At least he had to work for it!

* Darce and Morpheus. Imagine seeing these 2 everyday, oh what a lovely way to live (LOL!)

And one other thing that bothered me, my gosh that ending! What a cliffhanger!!! I need that next book right away!!

I enjoyed reading this story, and I recommend it to everyone who's in love with the Greek Mythology and loves a good romance.

Happy Reading!!

Till my next review,

BB Belle
